Hi group,
Anyone heard of this one?
On my Win2k PC it happens (far too often) that an undetermined 'while' after
booting, it no longer accepts commands to start programs. Upon clicking the
desktop icon or choosing the program from the start|programs menu the mouse
cursor changes into an hourglass, remains like that for 5-10 seconds then
changes back to the pointer and that's it.
When the problem is there, there is no response anymore from the I.E. upon
clicking a link. Any attempt to close the I.E. by using the X in the upper
right corner results in 'Program not responding'. Clicking the End Now
button does work ok. The machine accepts commands with regard to move icons
and that sort of thing but fails to execute programs.
Win2K - SVC Pack 4
For your information, this problem occurs even without opening lots of
programs. I usually have Outlook Epress, and I.E. and a Win Explorer on the
taskbar and then suddenly...
If you think there is something I should try, please do let me know.
Thanks beforehand,
Pagar.
