Programs don't recognize my scanner fujitsu 4120c

Just go a new fujitsu 4120c2 scanner. Cant' get paperport or scandall
21 which came with scanner to recognize the scanner. It shows up in
control panel under scanner as being installed. Running windows 2000
server. Not sure where to start or go next. Installed twain driver.

You did install the scanner software from the CD, that came with the
scanner, didn't you?

The first thing to check is:
See if those programs have a "Select Source" selection somewhere in the File
menu.
You have to select the TWAIN driver of the Fujitsu scanner for the programs
to 'see' the scanner.

Run the Scanner Setup Wizard in Paperport.

Set up your scanner with PaperPort

All files needed for scanner setup and support are copied automatically
during the program's installation, but no scanner setup occurs at
installation
time.
Before using PaperPort for scanning, your scanner should be installed with
its own scanner driver software and tested for correct functionality.
Scanner
driver software is not included with PaperPort.

Scanner setup is done through the Scanner Setup Wizard. You can start this
yourself: by clicking the Scan or Get Photo button, then the Setup button in
the Scan pane. You can also start the Wizard from ScanDirect by
right-clicking the Scan button. Otherwise, it appears when you first attempt
to perform
scanning in ScanDirect. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your
scanner.

Try the following steps to get your scanner running properly:

1. Go to : Add/Remove Programs in Control panel
2. remove "Scanner utility for microsoft windows"
3. insert the Kofax CD that came with your scanner ( Contains both VRS
3.51 and Capio 1.1 )
( the CD doesn't have an autorun so navigate Windows Explorer to your
CD drive; there should be 2 directories: VRS and Capio
4. open up VRS and run Setup.exe
5. go through the wizard selecting ALL DEFAULT SETTINGS
@ during the installation, you'll be prompted to select your scanner
model: Make sure to select the fi-4120c2
the setup will prompt for a restart when done
6. SELECT NO

If you're using the USB interface do the following:

1. right click on MY COMPUTER
2. goto MANAGE
3. on the left window of computer management, click on SERVICES AND
APPLICATIONS | SERVICES
4. double click on Still Image Service
5. set the startup type to Automatic and start the service
6. click apply then ok

reboot

now test with any twain compliant application - JUST REMEMBER TO SELECT
THE VRS TWAIN SCANNER WITHING THE APPLICATION
