Programmes Not respondi

All the time my computer keeps "Not Responding", I loose my internet connection and sometimes everything just crashes and my computer shuts down without warning. I have defragmented, disk cleanup. I dont know what else to try as this is so frustrating every couple of hours!!!!!

Make sure you don't have to many programs open at the same
time, some programs load at start-up and run in the
background. Also, run a virus and anti-spy ware check.
