Program menu open speed

I read an article awhile back where you could change the
speed at which the programs menu appears by editing
something in the registry. I did it and it worked fine
and still works fine. I would like to slow the speed
down a little and have misplaced the article and have
forgotten which key in the registry I edited.

Can you help me?

Hi Gary,

This is the path to the regedit you want. Change the "0" to whatever you
want. 400 is the default, 100 works well for me
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\desktop\"
"MenuShowDelay"
"REG_SZ"
n = 0

I guess I'm just lazy. Rather than edit the registry for that, I'd use
TweakUI for Windows XP, one of the Microsoft Powertoys for Windows XP.
There's a slider bar for menu speed, and many other VERY useful tweaks that
would require registry edits. Once installed, TweakUI for Windows XP is
accessed by clicking Start button/All Programs/Powertoys for Windows
XP/TweakUI for Windows XP. Once open, in the left pane click on Mouse, in
the right pane you'll see the slider bar for menu speed. You can test the
menu speed change immediately by right clicking the test icon, and you can
keep moving the slider bar until you get the exact speed you want. It beats
having to keep changing the numbers in the registry. TweakUI for Windows XP
isn't a resource drain, it's free from Microsoft, and for me is
indispensable.
