Program interruption or is it a bug?

Hi,
I have windows xp installed in my system (HP pavilion) . The problem
i face is when i copy files from cd drive to local system it interrupts the
audio or the video playing. I have formatted the hard disk many times and it
comes back after few programs getting installed. once this happens every
prgram (playing DVD) slows down. I have 1GB RAM and 60 GB harddisk (free
space 40GB) .
can any body help me out. Thx in adavnce.
