program for uploading blogs

I have a blogger.com blog but I find their editing and upload service a
bit unreliable and troublesome. I like to do some formating in my blogs
and this is even more troublesome doing it online.

I know there are probably plenty of programs out there for this but I
would appreciate some recommendations on opensource/free software options.

I've never used blogger.com but a cursory look indictes that you can ftp
pages to your account, i.e. http://help.blogger.com/

My fav. ftp tool is http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/
