Please help i upgraded from xp home to xp pro and now all
of my programs on the the all programs menu are missing.
I can find them all but don't know how to get them back
onto the start menu without taking all of the extra files
with it. I've tried using the solution listed on the site
but it doesn't work ( using msconfig etc. )

Thankyou

Hi,

See if they are listed here:

The values that are removed from the Run key are transferred to the
following registry key after an upgrade:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\DisabledR
unKeys

Each value that is under this key corresponds to a run item (program) that
had been disabled by Setup. The format for the values is the same as the
original values in the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

When you restore these values by using the Restore Startup Programs option,
they are moved from the registry value in DisabledRunKeys back to the Run
key.

To do so, go to Start/Run/Msconfig/Startup/Restore Startup Programs

Taking a guess:
Right-click the start button, properties, customize. You'll see an
option for the number of programs to display in the start menu. Don't
clear it. (I use the Classic menu, which is different.) Try adjusting
the numbers to show ten programs, then okay and apply your way out and
see if they show up.
