Program Errors and BSOD with new system

I just purchased a new computer and after putting it together, windows is
giving me trouble. Any program I open inevitably closes with the generic
windows error that tells me nothing other than the program crahsed. It does
this with IE, Windows Explorer, Doom 3 any program I open. I have
reinstalled, formatted and reinstalled, repaired everything and I still get
these errors. I cannot run the updates or service packs because IE crahses
while I try. Is there anything out there that can fix this, or is this a
hardware problem? I also get random file corruption errors that will clear
if I retry the same program again.
 
Sounds like incompatible hardware. What video card are you using. Try a
different video driver. Adequate Power
Supply?
