Program crash - memory map

Hope someone can help, or point me in the right direction.
Running Memory-Map OS5 and turned computer off without shutting down
properly - I know, I know, stupid, but I was in a rush -
Now program will not start up, just goes to the '...windows encountered a
problem ...' window every time. have tried uninstalling, re-installing,
removing registry entries and even used System Restore to an earlier point -
no joy. Presume it must be a problem outside the program, but not sure.
Anyone shed any light on this ? Have tried to find a more appropriate
newsgroup but this one seemed the most likely.
Thanks for any help

Thanks to anyone reading this and thinking of offering advice. Problem
solved.
Tweaked a folder in My Documents and program now works OK. Perhaps I should
have thought of that before posting:-(

For the benefit of other readers of this column, what exactly do you mean
with "tweaked a folder"? Which folder? How?

Sorry. Of course that is a bit selfish just saying 'tweaked', I was just so
pleased that I got it to work again!
I deleted all the files in the 'Map Overlays' folder in My Documents and
restarted the computer. Memory Map automatically writes the files it needs
into that folder. The reason why it would not start was that there was a
corrupted file in this folder.
Just for completeness, not sure whether the restart of the computer was
strictly necessary. It may be that just restarting the program after
deleting the files would have worked. Hope this helps anyone in a similar
pickle.

Thanks for the update. Your solution actually casts a poor light on
Memory-Map OS5. It means that the program is not sufficiently robust to deal
properly with a corrupted file, forcing you to start with a clean slate in
such situations.
