Profile extension

Tim Brown

We have a user who has a problem with his mailboxes in Outlook but this is
caused by a profile issue. I have checked his profile settings in ADUC and
found them to be correct. When he logs on he recieves a profile with the
following syntax [name].[domain_name] when it should be just the users logon
ID. Please see the attachment.

Any ideas?

Indeed, something got relocated. If you still have those files you can move
them to another location and when these messages pop-up you can point it to
there. Otherwise recreate the mail profile in Control PAnel-> Mail-> button

Hi Tim,

Thanks Roady for great suggestion.

I agree with Roady that it is better for you to create a new Outlook
Profile. The behavior is caused when Outlook cannot locate the PST file. By
creating new profile, Outlook will generate new PST file. Detailed steps
are as the following:

Step 1: Clean Outlook Cache

If the problem persists, please try to clean cache on the client side to
see if it helps:

1. Show hidden files.

1). Go to the Start menu of Windows, click Start menu-> Settings-> Control
Panel.
2). Double-click the Folder Options icon, and switch to the View tab.
3). Click to choose the "Show hidden files and folders" option and clear
the "Hide extensions for known file types" check box. Click OK.

2. Search for the following four files and rename them by changing the file
extension from ".dat" to ".old":
- outcmd.dat,
- extend.dat,
- frmcache.dat,
- views.dat

Step 2: Create a new Profile

Follow the steps in the article below to create a new Outlook profile.

And then verify the issue and let me know the results so that I can provide
further assistance on this problem. I am looking forward to your reply.

Thanks & Regards,

Lee Li
