Bollocks, for those who have no knowledge of Anglo Saxon, are testicles.

Nick didn't misspell it. "Bullocks" and "bollocks" are two
different words.

I stand corrected. It just wasn't in Webster's online dictionary ...

.

Are bullocks then bovine testicles?

No, young ones have them and old ones don't. It's one of those things that
happens when you get castrated :-)

.

Ok, so bullocks is bullsh*t and bollocks are testicles?
Sorry if I seem slow but I like to learn other cultures
and languages and that is why I asked.

"Bollocks" is a British -- er -- ejaculation. If you use it west of
the pond nobody will know what you're talking about.

"Nobody" is something of an exaggeration. I'm in the USA and I
know the term.

But I certainly agree that not many people in the USA will be
familiar with it.

It depends on a lot of things. I watch almost no public
television (or television of any kind), but I know it.

It also depends on how much British literature you read.

Win98-->WinME-->XPHome
WinNT-->Win2000-->XPPro
Bollocks means bulls**t
Bullocks means nothing.
XPHome has a 98 level price
XPPro has a 2000 level price
Its like what MS said about a kind of creativity.
And there is no perfection in the world....

There are many kernel differences as far as I know.

One major diff is that XP Home cannot join a Domain.

That is not in any sense a kernel element. It is a part of networking
code that is excluded from Home. If you do not want to use it then you
will see no difference in that respect. The Home and Pro versions are
*Identical* outside these additional facilities, meaning throughout
their core. To the extent that the MSDN distribution I initially
installed from gets the files from the same folder of the CD.

If you find those extra features valuable, and they are worth the
money to you, that's fine. I believe you and I certainly wouldn't
want to try to convince you of anything to the contrary.

Nevertheless, you're the exception. The vast majority of home
users have no use for those extra features,

And you are personally acquainted with the "vast majority" of home
users? I happen to personally know about 100 home users who all demand
Pro.
and buying
Professional instead of Home is simply a waste of money.

Don't be so quick to be frugal on everyone else's behalf.

Have you established how many of them know the difference? And how many
prove to make actual use of the additional facilities? It is evident
from posts around here though that there are a lot aiming at upgrading
for not better reason than that it sounds macho

I don't think you can go from Pro to Home (although you can go the other
way) without performing a complete install. Besides, Home is just a crippled
version of Pro, and has way more bugs.
