My friend recently purchased a Toshiba laptop that is running XP, Me is the
OS that was installed from the factory tho. She wanted to tune it up a bit, I
spent a few hours on it. I tried to do a Windows update and Microsoft replied
that the XP on the laptop was a bootleg copy. So I told my friend, turns
out...she had the original Me CD that came with it. But there was no product
key. How do I get the key?

The product key is on the Certificate of Authenticity sticker, which
should be affixed to the bottom of the laptop.

In the event she wants to stay with XP (and if laptop can realistically
handle it), she should purchase the Upgrade disk:

If she does this, make sure she tapes the COA to the bottom of her
laptop!
