Is the ProductKey in the Win2k registry? I see Registered owner and
Product ID in the same key as Win 9.x but no ProductKey?
I've searched several days in the group but nothing related.

Also, It's my daughter's machine and they do a lot of pictures and I
can't seem to get the same thumbnail display in Win Explorer as 9x.
Where you select one graphic and a thumbnail appears in the left
margin of the right pane with properties. ?

Thanks for any information.

Thanks, I found the script when I searched this group but I would
like to know what key it's in or where it is. I only get over there
an hour or so a week to maintain it and I need to get more familiar
with 2000 and the Registry. I did search for ProductKey in the
Registry but no hits.

Any ideas on the thumbnail view in Win Explorer? That would really
help them.

The product key is stored in the registry, but it's encrypted. Even if
you know where to look, that knowledge wouldn't help you much.

Gary,

Thanks for the information, I'd still like to know where it is and
what else is in the same key but I guess that's supposed to be a
secret from the owner. The script Pegasus suggested should find the
number ok. It's also on their Dell Restore CD sleeve. I'll check to
make sure the numbers are the same.

Thanks again,
