I have a hard drive that uses Windows XP. The disk was running out of space, so I bought a second hard drive. I made the new hard drive the master (C and the old hard drive the slave (D. I partitioned the new hard drive - half is reserved for Windows 98 and the other half is reserved for Windows XP Home Edition. However, I have lost my Product Key to the Windows XP upgrade. I downloaded the Everest software that was recommended on this website and installed it on the C: drive under Windows 98. It will only give me the product key of running operating system but not the operating system (Windows XP) stored on D:. So then I thought I might be able to retrieve the product key from the old disk drive by booting into D:. I disconnected the new hard drive and made the old hard drive the master. But now I can't boot up into Windows XP on the old disk. Is there a way to find the product key on drive D:? Any suggestions as to why I can't boot up on the old disk drive?
