A friend has asked me to reformat his machine and reinstall windows due to it
being jam packed with viruses/spyware etc. I collected his machine and all
the appropriate disks today and started the process. The writing on his
windows XP disk is in english and the writing on the product key sticker is
also in english but after installation everything is in Spanish? It does
appear to be a genuine copy as updates are available through windows update.

The guy who originally sold him the machine has moved on!

What is going on here? If it is a genuine copy of windows (Which I think it
is) Is there any way I can instal? it in English?

Well Rob, it is n't clear, is the machine was english language when
infected, right?.
What kind of install you done?.
Did you deleted all the partitions have been on this machine and created a
new ones and done your sums from formating and setting the Regional
Settings, the country which the machine (software) will operate in!.
You may done a restore and the Virus showing all the jargon to you, which
may not spanish.
HTH.
Please let us know.

Hi Nass, Thanks
OK, The machine was running in English before any problems started to
occour. It seemed so badly affected and so slow I thought the best thing to
do was a full reformat and reinstall using the disk and product key that was
supplied with the machine, all partitions were deleted and new ones created.
During the set up I selected United Kingdom and English in regional settings,
however when I booted from the set up disk the reformat and installation
process was in Spanish.
Regards
Rob

Hi Rob,
How odd!, but if you or him unsure what the other guy sold him then it is a
spanish version and your Mate need to buy a new XP CD English version and
he/she can sell the other spanish version to a spanish native, but I will
test first you don't need to sell, then playing ghost and it is English!!!

nass
