Product Key not working

I'm upgrading from 2000 to XP with an Upgrade CD. When I enter the Product Key I get the "Invalid Product Key" error. I actually purchased 3 Upgrade CD's for my company and all three Product Keys give the same error. What's going on

Thanks

Hi Richard

If you are sure that you have entered the PKs correctly - you may want to go
back to where you purchased the CDs from and ask them. Are they Retail or
OEM CDs?

Richard;
Did these Product Keys come with these CDs?
There are several types of each and they are not interchangeable.

Check closely, 5-S, B-8, O-0, I-1 and others look alike.
Have someone else try, sometimes another set of eyes and fingers can
get it.

Otherwise contact the seller.

you can't mix-n-match product keys and CDs lol so trying all 3 PKs on 1 cd probably wouldn't work.. if possible.. try the other CDs.

Correction:

You CAN mix and match CDs and Product Keys, as long as all Product key types
are the same.

Example 1:
Two XP Pro CDs, both having OEM keys. In this instance, either key will
work with either CD
Example 2:
Two XP Home CDs, both having Retail keys. In this instance, either key will
work with either CD

You CANNOT mix and match CDs and keys, if the keys and CDs each are
different types.

Example:
Two XP Pro CDs, one having an OEM key, and one having a Retail key. In this
instance, the OEM key will not work with the Retail media, and the Retail
key will not work with the OEM media.

In other words, it's the Product key which makes the largest difference, not
the media

Greetings --

You need to examine the Product Key very carefully. It's
awfully easy to mistake a "B" for an "8," a "G" for a "6," an "S" for
a "5," or a "Q" for a "0" or "O." Fortunately, Microsoft had the good
sense to leave the "1's," "I's," "O's," and "0's" out of the equation.
Also, be sure that your CapsLock if _off_ while entering the Product
Key.

However, with 3 different Product Keys giving the same results,
I'd strongly suggest that you verify the legitimacy of whomever sold
you those upgrades.

Obviously you can if they're the same product key, I'm assuming they're NOT the same cd.. lol it makes sense if they're the same product key

Can't you read? I did NOT say "the same key", I said "the same key TYPE"
(as in OEM, RETAIL, VOLUME LICENSE).

Trying all three keys using a single CD WILL work, IF the product key type
of each key is the same as the others, and the CD fits the product key type.
