I have a client and they have 6 PC's that were preinstalled with XP pro and then downgraded to Windows 2000. Now they want the PC's upgraded back to XP Pro but without loosing any programs or data installed. How can I upgrade using a Windows Upgrade CD using an Upgrade key supplied and then change the product key to the sticker on the side of each machine.
I have tested this on one machine and the upgrade works like a charm but when I try to change the key during the activation process it says its an invalid key. Can I use the same key to upgrade each machine and activate it six times, technically not legal but they do have six valid Full Professional Keys with each machine.
