Product key for WinXP Pro

I picked up a used system and installed WinXP Pro to make sure the Hardware
was going to work and would do what I needed. I used the product key from my
main system, but did not activate it. My question is, when I buy a new copy
of WinXP Pro and activate, within the 30 days, what is already installed
will I be able to somehow use the new number? Or will I have to reinstall
everything?
Thanks,
C'ed

How to change the product key at the time of activation

If the above procedure does not work, then:

Using the new Windows XP Product Key and CD,
a "repair install" would be required.
