My PKC is not working. I am copying it directly off back of an MSFT folder
in which the CD was packaged.

I have installed this once on my desktop and once on my notebook and am not
trying to install it again on my desktop after formatting the hard drive to
get rid of a virus.

Any insights?

What error are you getting?

Why have you not called MS to activate by phone?

You cannot use the same Windows XP license
(Product Key) with two different computers.
You must have a new license if you wish to
install Windows XP on a different computer.

Besides mentioning that you've violated the EULA by installing a single
license on two computers? No, not really.

Come back for assistance after you've purchased a legitimate license
for each computer.

Your wording is a bit confusing. If you have a retail Windows and one system has been completely wiped (as in really removed Windows), and you now want to install on another pc, you can. It's just that you will have to call MS to activate that license and to explain the situation.

If the old system has not been wiped, then you have no right to transfer the license.

Now, if the Windows is an OEM version, that is strictly tied to the original hardware.

Again, the sequence of your explanation is confusing.

Thanks. You confirmed my suspicion that even though I am using the
application for only myself and not sharing it with anyone that I can't use
it on two computers.
I'll call MS.
