Product ID ... properties not available

When I click properties from "my computer" or "system"
from control panel ... i get a message that "access to
specific path is denied". This is a stand alone home
laptop ... there is no other admin ID or authorized user
name. Any suggestions. I cannot get support or change
system variables without getting that info.

I assume that you're referring to the Product Key for your OS.

There are many 3rd party utilities available that will extract this info from your system.

This freeware utility displays both the OS and Office product keys:

If you need more than just the Product Key, you of these freeware utilities will give you a complete system report. Try Belarc Advisor first.

If you want to know anything about the internals of the system without taking it apart, download and install a system auditor like Aida32 Personal Edition, found here:
