Can anyone explain to me in laymen's terms the difference between the
Intel Pentium Dual Core & Intel Core 2 Duo ???

I was under the impression that they were both dual core chips.
Is that correct? If not please explain the difference between the 2
since i see a major difference in price.

AMD X2 is also a dual core and a better buy.

Like **** it is. There's a massive performance difference.

core and X4 four core processors.

A core is just another processor packaged in the same chip.

While I say thanks for info on the AMD that was not the question. I
really just want to know the difference between the 2 I mentioned
above.

Thanks to all who responded with the 2 processors I asked about which
were both intel. While I have nothing against AMD, that would not
answer my question in this post.
