Processes Running

I am running Lavasoft Ad Ware to prevent adware items on my computer. It
shows that 66 process are funning when I boot (before opening any programs).
This seems excessive, and it does take my laptop a considerable amount of
time to boot. Is there a way to see what these really are and remove the
ones not needed? Maybe a utility of some sort? This number is after all
virus scans, mal ware scans, etc.

Please advise.
