Processes Hidden?!?!?

Here's the thing. At any given moment when I open my task manager in Vista,
I'll have anywhere from 50-60 processes running at a time. The thing is, when
I'm in the Processes tab, I can only see about 15 of them and in the Startup
Configuration Utility, I don't even see that many (usually around 7 I think).
Anyway, how do I view these processes and (if they don't matter) get them not
to start with Vista. Thanks in advance

This might be a stupid question, but did you hit the "Show processes
from all users" button?

OK, that worked, thanks - now for the second question - why are multiple of
a few services running if i'm the only user on this computer?!?!?

Which services do you see running multiple instances?

We cannot see your screen from here. :)

I see:

2 - avgrssvc.exe
2 - csrss.exe
11 - svchost.exe
2 - taskeng.exe

that's all the multiple ones. if anything, i really want to get svchost.exe
down to one. Any help appreciated :)

You will not get svchost down to 1. Svchosts contain other, usually
multiple, programs. It is a way to run programs without incurring the full
resource use that these programs would otherwise use (creating proceses is
expensive in windows - it's where all the hard work is done so other
operations are cheaper - the downside is any program crashing will take down
all programs in that process.). If you want to see which programs are in any
svchost right click in Process Tab and choose Go To Services. The services
in that svchost will be highlighted.

If you look at the windows program (CSRSS is the program that is Windows)
should be two.
