Process (etc) not starting properly

I've seen a lot of posts that involve startup issues, but none quite answer
the problem I'm having. There was a post about processor overheating which
may be causitive, but I'm not sure.

Anyway here it is: My Windows XP 2002 w/SP 2 (fully updated with newest
drivers - recently scanned successfully for viruses, adware, spyware, etc.)
will not startup properly after being shutdown over night. Specifically the
printer services does not start, thus not allowing access to the printers.
Manual starting of the service and reloading printers fixes problem
(temporarily). Sound card will also not install - no work around there. And
lastly - the taskbar itself does not appear. Restarting the system will most
times fix problem. Don't want to keep system running all of the time. I
tried reinstalling windows running updates etc. but can't seem to figure it
out. Not sure if it might be a hardware issue. Any help or suggestions
would be great.

Thank you

To repair all system files, go to Start/Run, and type:
SFC /SCANNOW

Have you tried removing the problem devices, to refresh the drivers?

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight the device, Action menu,
"Uninstall", then restart Windows, to find the device drivers again
automatically.
