Running Windows 98 and MPC v6.4.9.0

All of a sudden I have lost the sound to all my RM files. MPC plays
the video just fine, but no sound. I have no problems with any other
video format like AVIs or MPGs or DivXss or WMVs, just RMs.

I haven't been into the Preferences window in many a month, so I
haven't inadvertantly selected something different. Am I going to have
to re-install this puppy to try and get it to work?

Thanks!

Might try installing the latest version of Real Alternative (integrates
all the Real codecs with MPC):

That might be an alternative to re-installation. But why would it stop
working in the first place? It worked fine with some RM files I
download several months ago using this same player and codecs. Now it
won't. I can see it not playing some of the newer vids, but the older
ones??

Dunno. 'Twas just a suggestion. TIOLI. Periodically (once every six
months or so), I uninstall the K-Lite Codec Pack (the meta-package that
contains MPC and all the various and sundry codecs), Real Alternative,
and Quicktime Alternative; then reinstall all three with updated
versions. With a high speed connection it's a quick and painless
exercise, and has served me well. YMMV.
