Problens with recognition of dvd recorder

My computer with Windows Xp alwalys work with my dvd
recorder, sudently it doen't recognize it.
Can you help me
 
How long ago did this problem start. You can do a System Restore and go back
up to 90 days. Restore is under Accessories/System Tools
