Hi All,

Today I powered up my machine to find a blue screen of
death with the message " Stop_innaccessible_boot_device.
Check for viruses on your computer.
Remove any ewly installed hard drives, or hard drive
controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure that it is
configured and terminated properly. Run CHKDSK /f to check
for hard drive corruption and then restart your computer"

I have attempted to boot from a windows 98 boot disk to
try and access the c:\ drive but am unable to do so.

Please could anyone help me with this problem.

Kind Regards

Peter Flint.

I'm not sure why you would want to boot with a Win98 disk to access the
C: drive unless you're trying to pull data off that you didn't back up.
That might work if your XP was installed using FAT32, but DOS won't be
able to see anything on an NTFS drive. What happens when you run
Chkdsk /f? Can you get into Safe Mode or boot Last Known Good
Configuration? Try running a disk diagnostic utility from the drive
mftr.'s website. Post back with more details about your computer for
more help.
