Problems with the System Tray!

T

Tory Kulick

Hi,
I'm currently using Windows XP SP1 running on an Athlon XP 2600+. I
am having a problem where my system tray does not load properly (ie no
icons will show up next to the time on the bottom right of the screen)
on my main account. All applications and everything run perfectly,
but nothing shows up in the system tray. Another clue to something
being awry is that on my main account in the taskbar/start menu
settings the "Hide inactive icons" option is totally grayed out where
I can't select or deselect it. I have created other user accounts to
see if the tray shows up and it does so it rules out a corrupt file
issue. I am not sure how to go about making the system load up system
tray properly on my main account. I would go for creating a separate
account and using them, but I have too much information and settings
specifically set up on my main account that I don't want to migrate
over. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Tory,

Check your settings here: Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Policies\Explorer

You can either delete the policy or set it to 0. To do so, check for this
dword value: NoTrayItemsDisplay

Other than that, use my Taskbar Repair Tool Plus! utility use the setting
under the Notification Area - Hide or Show All Listed Tray Icons.
