Hello,
is this the appropriate group to ask questions about search 4.0 ?
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/desktopsearch/choose/windowssearch4.mspx

I find it to be most unreliable. At least once a week it gets corrupted and
has to reindex everything.
To add insult to injury, all the custom indexed locations I've set get lost,
and I have to re-add all those
locations. Please advise if there are any tips, tricks or other
considerations.

My recommendation stays the same...

Don't use/install Windows Search 3.x/4.x on Windows XP of any service pack
version. While others may have had differing experiences - mine is that it
is not worth it.

The best thing you can do is uninstall it and go with Google desktop.

Thanks Roy and Shenan,
yours are the first posts I've seen corroborating what, deep down, I
suspected.
This seems to be one of the poorest things put out by MS is a while?
Perhaps on a par with Windows ME?
