Windows XP problems with regsvr32 vbscript.dll

Ive been trying to install the latest version of itunes for nearly a day now but it keeps failing with the error 2738 i looked this up on i tunes and it said to run regsvr32 vbscript.dll but that came up with the error message 0x80004005 ive treied reinstalling all the script packages but nothing is helping any suggestions
