problems with outlook signatures with pictures

when I create a signature in outlook (using html format) and INSERT a picture
(clipart) I always get these funny characters at the beginning of the sig:


HOW do do add clipart to a sig without getting this???
 
I get the same thing and it just started happening after I changed the font
in my signature. Office SP3 didn't fix it. Anyone have a solution?
