Problems with Outlook 2002 IMAP Folder Unread Counts

C

cd

I have Outlook 2002 SP3. I have a POP email account and a IMAP email
account. Most of the time, the unread items couns are not showing up on a
folder in my Outlook bar or my folder list until I actually select the
folder for display. I have done the following to correct the problem:

1) Made my POP mail account my default. I read where IMAP accounts as the
default could be the problem.
2) Made sure the connection my IMAP uses is set to 'Use LAN'. The IMAP
account is behind a VPN so that VPN must be started, but having that VPN as
a dial-up connection I read could cause the problem.
3) Editted my Send/Receive group for the IMAP account to include
a) 'Include this account in send receive group' is checked
b) 'Send mail items' is checked
c) 'Get unread counts' is checked
d) 'Check folders to include in send/receive' is checked for 'Inbox',
'Private Folders', and 'Private Folders ZZZ'
e) 'Download item description only' is selected for all folders
selected.

I see the POP tasks show up in the 'Outlook Send/Receive Progress' dialog
but no IMAP account tasks even though the Send/Receive group includes both
the POP account and the IMAP account.

Any suggestions?
