Problems with Nvidia MX 400 and XP

Here's the hardware list:
ECS motherboard K7S5A
524mb DDR
20gb Maxtor hard drive
40gb Maxtor hard drive
DVD rom drive
CD-RW 48x24x48
AMD Athalon 2400+
Nvidia MX 400 video card (64mb ram)

Background Information:
I'm trying to set up my system to run XP, mainly for
games. I've been running Win2000 for over a year with no
problem on this hardware. I have the latest bios and
drivers for my motherboard.

Problem:
When I install the latest Nvidia drivers (45.23) my
computer screen flashes when you click on icons or
links.

If the screen saver (3d flower box) comes on, the
computer freezes.

When I change my resolution or color depth, I
get "ghost" images on the screen. ie. close a window and
it stays there, although you can see the desktop icons in
the window.

DirectX 9 diags doesn't show any problems.

------------
A friend of mine with the same board said that he thought
it was a problem with the SIS miniport drivers and not
the video card. But I've changed my IDE drivers to those
listed in the update driver wizard and nothing seems to
change.

I've reinstalled 3 diferent times, trying different
theories and they've all failed. If you can help, I'd
greatly appreciate it.

Try uninstalling all nvidia from add/remove programs, then
open device mgr.,uninstall nvidia display adapter, restart
computer,back on desktop,open windows update,let it inst-
all nvidia for you.Youll find it will work, but also the
nvidia software/drivers are less than 10 mb.
