I'm working on a large presentation (about 80 slides) and there are about 8
slides which don't retain their jpg images after I save the ppt and then
re-open it. I get X's where the images should have been. In addition, one or
two images appear in the wrong places. I've tried deleting the bad slides and
creating them again, but this doesn't help. I'm using Office 2003 Pro on
Windows XP. What could be causing this? I'll be grateful for any advice I can
get and thank you in advance for such help!

But from the other things you've described, it's possible that your presentation
has gotten corrupted. You might want to try "roundtripping" it to HTML
