problems with hibernation - file

F

Frank

I am running XP PRO SP2. I don't use hibernation very often, but just
bought a UPS
and am trying to reconfigure the system. I had used hibernation in the
past, like last Dec,
so I know the computer will support that and I checked with the producer
(HP). When
I bring up the power tab and open the Hibernate page, the HIBERNATE tab is
unchecked.
When I check it and hit apply, I get an error:

"unable to reserve hibernate file"

I have plenty of memory - 34+ G left on C: and have 1 G of RAM. After a few
tries, I found
the old Hibernation file that was still there, dated back in Dec and deleted
it an rebooted. But
still no luck. I haven't added anyhardware (other than the UPS), but it
doesn't LOOK like a
hardware issue from the error message.

Any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks,

Frank
