Problems with graphics

I have XP Pro, SR 2 etc... OE 6, Ad-Aware, Windows Defender, AVAST, all
updates current, and add when notified by MS (automatic with option), scan
daily, and compress off line daily, etc...

Problem comes in accessing stationary files/folders I've downloaded myself
into the Stationary Folder (3 components, gif, wav and htm). Only the htm
appears in my documents, or emails going out, but when received the files
are complete, but I cannot see/hear them - only the recipients.

At times, I've noticed graphic 'overlays' occasionally, and checked this out
in Solitaire, which I'm able to effect - layering of cards shown (which
should not happen). Sometimes, when I check my gmail, there are red Xs in
place of graphics. Once I shut down, and start up again, they are gone!

I'm running at about 40% capacity, and no apparent power problems; however,
I'm a blind user, with adaptive software (ZoomText, Dragon, Kurzweil, etc).

Any ideas, friends? Thank you very much.

Try running a hardware diagnostics program which will test your graphics
subsystem. It could be that your graphics card or driver is damaged. Check
for current drivers on the manufacturer's website; you may need a driver
update.
