Problems with Fonts/Letters squished together on Works 8 Word Proc

When I type something in on Works 8 Word Processer, all the letters are
squished together. Instead of SSSSSS the SSSSS are all overlapped, and it
prints the same way.... How do I correct this? I have an Windows XP Home
Computer emachine. HELP.. Thanks

Maybe Works doesn't like "Cleartype"

To disable ClearType font smoothing, right-click on your desktop, select
Properties, select the Appearance tab and press the Effects button. There is
a drop down box to choose between Standard or ClearType font smoothing.
