Problems with fbreaseal.exe

Adrian Theodorescu

Hi All,

Please, I need urgent help for solving this problem. fbreseal messes up my
computer somehow. Here is what I've noticed: before the reseal phase, I have
"userinit.exe" in the [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon],"Userinit"registry key. After running
"fbreseal.exe" I find that this key was modified to point at
"...\FBA.exe -run", and things get messed up on the system. I have an
ordinary user that is logged on automatically on the PC. I have some things
that don't work correctly (video drivers, etc.) unless I make this user an
administrator (which is not acceptable). Any ideeas how I can run
fbreseal.exe and avoid messing up the computer?

Please note that I have selected Winlogon (not Minlogon) when building the
image.

Many thanks,
Adrian

Is your system resealing automatically, or are you doing it manually?
Personally, I have the automatic reseal during FBA, and a batch file
launched from a run key (which therefore runs at the first proper boot of
the unit well after the reseal) which executes some configuration including
some registry changes such as changing the run key (so that on subsequent
boots my app is launched instead). I found that this worked better than
using a runonce key.

I am resealing the system manually. Resealing automatically is not an
option. Besides, I'm not sure how this could change the situation. My
problem is that, after resealing, the system behaves as if I have selected
Minlogon, although I'm sure I have installed Winlogon (I can see this in the
configuration). Is this a known issue?

Are you using any options when you fbreseal? For example, I use
the -keepall switch. There are other switches as well.

I didn't use any switch. Can you indicate a place where I could find some
documentation about fbreseal?

Thank you

Look at the reseal info. at the following link:
