Problems with external dislpay on a laptop

I am having issues on a laptop using an external display. Everytime that I
restart the computer or switch from another PC back to the vista PC on a kvm
switch or log back in after the computer has been locked, the display
settings change to whatever they want. I have it set it to 1280x1024 -
75Hz. It will either change back to 1024x768 - 60Hz or 1280x1024 - 85 Hz or
since the laptop is in a docking station, it will turn off the external
monitor and revert back to only the laptop display with resolution of
1280x800. Has anyone else been having this issue or any ideas how to
resolve?

Vista RC1 build 5600
Dell latitude D800 on a docking station
1GB Ram
NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM)
External Dell trinitron CRT monitor
IoGear miniview 4 port usb kvm switch

I'm having similar issues. Windows doesn't remember the display settings. If
I open the lid on my laptop and close it again, the resolution has switched
to 1024x768 from whatever setting it was. Same effekt when switching user
(which causes the screen to flicker as if refreshing video settings or
something)
