problems with dvd player and decoder and direct X....HELP!!!!!!!!!

hello,
ok i'm having quite a few problems ..........................
1. when i tried playing a dvd it didn't work and said that I may not have a
working decoder????? which I really dont know anything about but i looked up
and it said some things to other people like i may have to download
intervideo or some other program soooooooo i tried to do that and it failed
miserably.
2. as i was trying to download the intervideo trial it said i needed windows
directx9 so i went to the site and got it. but i guess for some reason it
didn't work because when i tried the intervideo download again it still said
the same thing that i needed the directX thing. i kept trying to download the
directx 9 and it just wasn't finding it. i also tried restarting my computer
and everything. im realllllly frustrated cause like a couple weeks ago i
watched a movie and things were fine.

I have windows media player, realplayer and quicktime and none of them will
play my movies. its like they don't even recognize it or something. but when
i go into my computer it says the name of movie and all. i have windows xp
sp2 if that makes a difference. IF ANYONE HAS ANY ADVICE I'LL TAKE IT AND
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!

Is the boave happening while downloaidng or when you run the install
program of WnDVD ?

Here is a direct link to the windvd download. If the following link gets
split in more than one line then copy paste each part into the web
browser's address area before pressing enter.

http://a1394.g.akamai.net/7/1394/32...tervideo.com/windvd6/release5/Enu/WinDVD6.exe

Remember during installation not to associate WinDVD with any file type
or the default application for playing DVD. Windows Media Player should
play the DVDs fine afterwards.
