Problems with d:/ - DVD R/RW

I have put a blank cd in the drive - when I go to open the drive I get the
following message;

d:/ is not accesable
incorrect function

I know its working because I had a cd in earlier today and it worked ok.

So what's cause this problem? and how do i fix it?
