problems with cursor freezing

I bought an HP Pavilion desktop on May 10 and have recently been
having increasing problems with my cursor freezing and sometimes
triggering a "storm" of opening, fluttering boxes (start menu box,
task manager, etc.) I can sometimes cool it down with alt/cntrl/
delete/cancel. Sometimes it stops by itself. When the cursor is
stuck, I can also sometimes free it with this procedure, but sometimes
it won't budge and I have to manually shut the machine off. HP
helped me restore the computer, but the problem still exists -- plus I
am no longer able to activate AOL. I would like to know if anyone else
has had the freezing, fluttering problem and if you were able to
correct it. A friend urged me to get a Mac instead, but I like this
PC except for that. However, it is wearing me down.

Thanks.

If the problem exists after a restore to factory condition, then this is
probably a hardware fault. You just bought the machine; return it
immediately for a working one.
