Problems with an access app and terminal server

Hi,
I'm having problems with and Access app(2000) and
windows 2000 terminal server. If i try to start the app
on the server itself, ok. But if I log in via terminal
server, the app tells me I have an security issue. It
won't let me in a certain file. Have full access, Office
installed with the terminal server transform.

Are there any issues with virtual connections.

Any ideas,
Syl

Syl,

One of the things that can save you a lot of time is to search the group for
an answer before you post a question.

Just yesterday I posted an answer to someone (Also named Syl but with a
different emails address.) that gave a link to solving Office 2000 /
Windows 2000 Terminal Server problems.

The first thing you need to do is to make sure Office is installed properly
for Terminal Services. You can *not* use a standard installation of Office.

Take a look at the article at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;224313.

You may have to uninstall and then reinstall Office.

Once you have Office installed properly for Terminal Services, other
security issues are usually file and folder permissions that you'll have to
work out with the server administrator.

Good luck.

Hi Sco,
I did install office correctly as i mentioned before. I
am concentrating on the rights. Just wanted to know if
the virtual connection had something to do about it. I
was wondering if terminal serverices had maybe a
different hardware attribute, like if you needed a
hardware key to run an app.

Thks,
Syl

btw
I was the one who posted before.

Sorry, it was not clear from your post that you had followed the
instructions in the Office Resource Kit.

If you are still having security issues, then it is going to be a system
and/or Terminal Services issue.

You might take a look at http://www.granite.ab.ca/access/terminalserver.htm
for some ideas.

After that, you'll have better luck with Terminal Server issues in the
microsoft.public.win2000.termserv.apps and
microsoft.public.win2000.termserv.clients groups.

Good luck.
