Problems with accessing another computer on network

I have two computers networked through a router and am having problems
accessing each computer from the other. I am using workgroups and both
computers have the same workgroup name. When I click on "Computers near me"
the other computer is listed, but when I try to click on the computer to see
any shared folders, I get a dialog box "\\computername is not accessible.
Contact admini for permissions, blah blah. It didn't ask me to log in or
give password just the dialog box error. What am I doing wrong????? This is
driving me crazy.

BTW, I was able to set up a shared printer on one computer and sucessfully
print from the other, so that is working.
