problems when saving something when long filenames is used

I have a problem when trying to save something, I cannot use "long"
filenames (can't type anymore that 8 characters)!!
It is a Windows XP with SP2 installed

Could someone please try to help me with this?

Irrelevant. FAT32 supports LFN just fine.

Since when can XP be installed on any file system other than FAT32 or NTFS?
