Problems when moving from Eval version to Retail version

Hello

We have used the Evaluation version to create an embedded device. Now we have purchased the Retail version of Embedded Tools but are unable to make the upgraded version work
Here's what we did
* Uninstalled the evaluation component database on the server computer (which runs SQL Server, not MSDE
* Installed the retail component database on the server compute
* Uninstalled the evaluation version of the Embedded Tools on the development compute
* Installed the retail version of the Embedded Tools on the development compute

Now when we start Target Designer on the development computer, the splash screen on startup still says 'evaluation copy'. It is also unable to connect to the database on the server, a dialog box claiming that 'cannot logon to the database at <server>' is the only result we get. Component Database Manager says something to the same effect. We have uninstalled and reinstalled the Embedded Tools several times, this does not make any difference

What are we doing wrong? Could someone please advise

Regards

I would imagine it's a case of doing things in the wrong order.
Uninstall the database *and* tools before reinstalling, and see if that
helps.
