Problems using two montors with Vista.

Here's hoping someone out there can help me...

I have a fresh install of Vista Ultimate on an AMD Athlon 64 4200 with
2 megs of ram and runing GForce 8 series video card. I have two dell
19 inch flat panels conected to it. If I only have one monitor
conected to the system everything works fine. If i conect the second
monitor, boot the system and configure the second monitor then reboot
the system, both monitors go blank after the "loding windows"
screan.

The only way to get the system back is to reboot the system in safe
mode uninstall the vid drivers, unplug one of the montiors and then
reboot. Then the system comes back up fine. By the way when booting
into safe mode with both monitors plugged in, they both work.

I have removed the vid card and replaced it with a gforce 6800 and
have the same problem. I have used both the latest nvidia drivers and
the beta drivers. Each time I did this i followed the directions for
uninstalling the original drivers and reinstalling the new drivers.

If anyone out there has any data on how to fix this please, please let
me know.

Thanks all,
Steve

I have a similar video issue. Using the DVI connection when vista boots I
loose video after the "loading windows" screen. However I still here the
sound played when you would normally see the circular blue windows logo in
the center. I wait a couple seconds longer and even with no video I know
it's sitting at the welcome screen waiting for my passoword. I blindly type
my password, press enter, windows continues to boot, then the video returns
and there's my desktop. I get a message saying my video card driver has
failed and was recovered and it also logs it to the system event log. Still
waiting on a fix.

Before I figured out this "workaround" I would kill power, switch to VGA,
and boot to safe mode. It's doing this to me about 50% of the time I boot
up.
