Problems using Dell Reinstallation cd

I tried everything to get rid of Adware.Purityscan in my computer and was
advised to use the reinstallation cd that came with my Dell. I used the XP
Home Edition Reinstallation CD Service Pack 2 and it says that it cannot
repair the problem as some of the files cannot be copied. So, I attempted to
reinstall instead of repairing and I ended up at a screen that showed
partitioned space and non partitioned space. It did not recommend that I use
the partitioned space and the non-partitioned space was too small. So, I
tried to add space and it wouldn't allow that either. I have no idea what I
am doing but can follow directions pretty well...any ideas?

Contact those who advised you down this extreme course of action in the
first place (I assume it was Dell...?)
