Problems trying to play Earth Empires Online

Me and my friend have been trying to play this game Earth Empires online. We
have tried using seirra.com to play and when i go to host a game and he trys
to connect he gets a message saying host is not responding. When he tries to
host i can actually get into the screen to set up the game but when we
actually try to start playing it will come up with a screen saying trying to
connect or something around them lines and nothing happens. We have also
tried doing a Direct Connect game but what never works either. Only thing i
can think of is that maybe the ports i need open to play are closed but i
have no idea how to open them. (if thats even the problem) Also we have both
closed our firewalls.

Hi Dustin,

Closing your Windows XP firewalls isn't a good idea. You
should leave them on, and in the SP 2 version it will ask you
for permission to allow that game to be exempted to connect.

Do either of you have a home networking device, like a router?
Call the tech support for that unit, and ask them to either setup a "DMZ"
(De-Militarized Zone which means the firewall is disabled) to bypass the
built-in firewall, or open the necessary ports in the equipment with you.

Here's the List of all Ports used by Zone
and DX Games: http://mvps.org/nibblesnbits/PortRoute.html#ports
(See your router's manual or that website for self help instructions)
