Problems saving form results from ASP page

S

Seamus Ruane

Hi,

I'm a bit of a novice, so I hope this isn't too dumb...

When I use a form on a web page with a .htm extension, I
can save the form results in a text file. However, when I
try to do the same on an ASP page, the results are not
saved - when I click on 'Submit', the forms are cleared
and no confirmation page is dispayed. Any ideas?

On a related point, when I am using the .htm page, I have
to change the results file location away from the default
location (in the _private directory), as I don't know how
to access that directory. What do I have to do to be able
to access this directory on my web, to get the results?

Thanks in advance

Seamus

Yup, this is how it works. You can't use the FrontPage
Save Results component on an ASP page, and vice versa.

This is a security restriction that went into effect when
some bad guys found how to trick the FrontPage "Smart HTML
Interpreter" into downloading the code inside ASP pages.
The Smart HTML Interpreter is a program that comes with
the server extensions, and that provides all FrontPage
Save Results functionality except Save Results To Databse.

Choose Web Settings from the Tools menu, click the
Advanced tab, select Show Hidden Files And Folders, then
click OK.
